Arkansas Hills trail system is accessible right from town. The website has trail maps and descriptions. These are popular with hikers, runners, and bikers and have a variety of distance and difficulty options.

Browns Creek Falls

Browns Creek Falls is a moderate, 3-mile hike to a beautiful waterfall in the Central Colorado Rocky Mountains about 30 minutes from downtown Buena Vista, Colorado. This day hike is perfect for the month of June, as there's no snow on the trail.

Agnes Vaille Falls

A moderate 1.2-mile out-and-back trail near Nathrop, Colorado (between Salida and Buena Vista). The waterfall is near Mt Princeton Hot Springs.

14-er peak hiking

If its a warm spring and early snowmelt, summitting one or more of the dozen 14,000' peaks in the Arkansas Valley may be an option if you are a fit, experienced hiker and accustomed to high altitude. We're assuming if this is your bag, then you know how to find out about routes and timing on your own, but we can help a bit if you give us a call. This is not everyone's wheelhouse and we don't recommend it as an idle out-of-towner activity. Options include: Mt Shavano, Tabaguache Peak, Mt Antero, Mt Princeton, Mt Harvard, Mt Yale, Mt Columbia, Mt Elbert (Colorado's highest peak), Mt Massive. It is likely many of these routes will still be snow covered on June 1, but depending on weather and the aspect of the route, some might be melted off or packed in and viable. These are generally 6-10 hr climbs....

Registry

The Home Depot cards will mainly be used for a new front door!! We're not married to any of these things specifically...just to each other. Just some ideas for those who requested a registry :) We have queen beds and two twin beds. Can't wait to celebrate with you soon!
